Booky Booky Looky Looky

One of my more common charity shop purchases is books. I learned to read when I was 3, and 30 years later my lust for literature is still as strong. I recycle books. If I read and I *LOVE* I keep, as I can re-read the same book 10 times and not get bored of the story. If it's ok but nothing memorable, or I don't get on with it, off it goes to the next charity shop. (There is one I rarely buy from in town, purely because I have probably donated a good quarter of their book stock!)

I bought a scratchcard last week. Our local bus drivers don't like £10 notes (especially for a less than £2 fare which is fair enough. Or fare enough if you're good for a pun!) - so to break up the note I bought a £1 scratchcard. It sat in my purse for a good few days until I found it unscratched yesterday morning.. So, I scratched and I'd been sitting on £10 for the best part of the week.- and what's a girl to do? Hot foot it into her nearest charity shop on her lunch break to get some new books.

Great British Bake Off - How to avoid a Soggy Bottom
A is my little star baker. She adores baking, and is rather good.  This book was £2, and after a VERY good first week back to school, it was a little treat for her which she loved. Took a bit of bartering to get the book out of her hands long enough to photograph it!

D is for Depression
I've suffered with depression for most of my adult life. I medicate (mostly. I'm not always the best at remembering to take the tablets, but I take more than I forget - shhhhhh!) but this book called out to me. I haven't started reading it yet, but it's top of the pile tonight and I'll devour a bit while I drink my evening coffee.

Dear Nobody
A YA novel about teenage pregnancy. Again, not been read yet, but as someone who was pregnant as a teen (I missed being a teenage mother by 5 1/2 months...) I'm interested to see how the pregnant protagonist (pregtagonist?) is portrayed.

Tintin - Le Sceptre D'Ottokar
I have a soft spot for France. It was the first place I visited with my passport, so I always pick up French books. My GCSE French (which  somewhat funnily enough I passed at a better grade than my mother tongue!) has been kept up enough that I understand about 75% of the contents.

Touche - A French Woman's Take On The English
Again with the soft spot for France. I also love these books that talk abuot the cultural differences between countries.

Girl <3 Girl
YA Novel. I love coming of age and coming out novels. Love is love is love, and it should be celebrated. A's already got her eye on this book too.
